What is Business Coaching?

Business coaching has become a common and important practice for CEOs, business owners, managers, and anyone who wants to advance themselves and their companies. Still, many business leaders don’t truly understand what coaching actually is. In short, business coaching is a collaborative relationship between the client and a professional business coach, a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires the client to maximize their personal and professional potential.

And what does a business coach do? A coach’s role—generally, is to help the client design a vision for their business that aligns with the values and the goals they have for their life. With that vision in hand, business coaches provide their clients with the guidance, support, and accountability they need to set and move through their goals, allowing them to take their business from where it is to where they want it to be.

Previously I owned and managed a Moving and Storage company. There were times when I would get stuck or have doubts while trying to make a big decision or deciding what the next step would be. That is particularly when I leaned heavily on my Coach. Someone outside the organization that could help me work through what the next course of action should be. Many of our biggest decisions came about as a result of good coaching.

Hiring a business coach is not hiring a low-touch advisor or an industry-specific consultant to come in and fix your business. Working with a professional business coach is a deeply personal engagement. And on some level, you’re buying who they are and why they do what they do.

At Inspired Consulting, we follow the Maxwell Leadership proven model of coaching. The client provides the agenda- what they would like to accomplish during the coaching sessions. The coach then helps the client work through all of the obstacles and options. Then helping the client put together an action plan that moves them forward to success.
